MESSAGE FROM CHAIRPERSON – DR. K.S. SUNANDA

SENIOR CITIZENS MEET
Good evening to one and all on this august evening.

A very warm welcome to all of you.

We are all proud to celebrate 70th Independence Day.

Any joy will be doubled when we share our celebrations. What better way to celebrate with 3 generations amidst us – children – parents and grandparents -our senior citizens.

We are highly indebted and thankful to all our senior citizens who have honoured our invitation and accepted to be part of the celebrations. Our salutations to you. Please be part of our efforts in community and neighbourhood building in the region. Please guide us, advise us and lead us.

Since we are celebrating 70th Independence Day we thought that it would be apt to have all senior citizens who were born in the year 1947 and prior, who have tasted British era or pre independence era of education and as well post-independence education to share their valuable experiences.

Technological advances have taken education ahead by leaps and bounds. Yet the innate “human touch” in the form of Guru cannot be replaced.

It is important for all of us to ensure that the present generation of children along with technological advances, should not lose sight of our culture, values, ethos which are grossly missing in the “so called” developed nations.

The resultant impact of the same are the emerging institutions which are replacing the family care which definitely is not a good sign of progress. Though in urban nuclear set ups the above are becoming inevitable.

The present generation educational focus should not be just focus on academics and high scores but how much humanity and human values we have inculcated within them matters much more if peace has to prevail in the universe. They need to imbibe our cultural values at all times.

Through this initiative we are also laying foundation for a scheme wherein we are requesting our grandparents to volunteer and adopt our school. We will create platform for the grand parents to come to our school once in a month to share moral stories, indoor games which were played by them, teach any skill they know, teach children how and why they should respect elders, importance of any rituals and festivals. This is open to people of all religions, faiths with no divisions. Working in the development sector for the last 3 decades we strongly believe that community ownership is very important for success of any program.

PLEASE DO COME FORWARD AND ENRICH OUR FUTURE GENERATIONS. YOUR INPUTS WOULD BE THEIR LIFE LESSONS.

Please contact our principal to register your interest.

Though physically I am absent from the meeting my heart and soul is focussed on today’s meet.

Hope all of you will have a pleasant and wonderful meeting and new friendships will blossom from this meet.

THANK YOU.
